Respite care gives family caregivers planned relief while helping the person receiving care maintain a safe and familiar routine. Depending on the authorization and care plan, respite may include supervision, assistance with routine needs, companionship, and other approved supports.
Respite is not one-size-fits-all. The right arrangement depends on the individual’s needs, schedule, funding or authorization, and available staffing.
